Building a Food Forest

in Spain

using vegan and organic principles

I’m Helen and I’ve been building a small food forest in Eastern Spain since the summer of 2021, using vegan and organic permaculture principles.

  • Are you gardening in a Mediterranean-type climate (we are approximately zone 9-10) and finding food production tricky?

    I share what I have learned, and am learning, from growing a food forest, so you can learn from my mistakes and copy my successes!

  • Are you looking for a way to garden that increases biodiversity so that you have a huge ‘wild and free’ population of animals and insects living and visiting your space?

    I give you ideas to increase biodiversity, without needing to ‘keep’ animals.

  • Do you face increasingly extreme weather patterns, which mean that things that used to work, don’t now?

    I share strategies to deal with extremes of drought, heat, and even occasional frosts.

  • Is your soil lifeless, poor, and/or challenging to work with?

    I have been developing the soil here over the past few years, and have lots of tips to share for soil creation and improvement.

  • Are you hoping to create a beautiful space, that nurtures your physical wellbeing and contributes to your positive mental health?

    We can explore different ways to achieve this!

  • Do you want to look after the planet for yourself, and future generations, to enjoy?

    I am passionate about caring for the climate and hope to share lots of strategies to support that goal.

All this abundance has grown between 2021 and 2025… and I’d love you to share in its progress as it develops over the coming years.
